hey i need some help. i was driving my car the other day as i normaly do going to school when all of the sudden i hear this noise from under the car and it felt that something hit the bottom of the car. Next thing you know i have no more reverse or 5th gear!!! I really dont know whats up with that.... one of my cv joints is busted do you think that has anything to do with it ?? it feels like the gears are gone like the stick goes in the place of the 5th and reverse but it feels like there is nothing there......:puke:

Did you try checking your cables right where they connect to the tranny? Maybe something 'slipped' out of place in there and your not engaging that side.

Sounds like cables or shift linkage might've went. When I had that problem, I lost 1st and 2nd gear as well. Life sucks when you only have 3rd and 4th gear in city traffic.

It's not the cables, it would only be the cables if it could only go into one gate. I.E. 1-2, 3-4 or 5-r, if it can go into 2 or more then the cables are fine. Is it stuck in either 5th or reverse? By the symptoms you're describing I would venture to guess broken shift rail... sorry. Rebuild time would be my first guess.

when my shifter cables went I didn't have 1st, 3rd, 5th :dunno:

anyways, I'd just say check under the hood and where the shifter cables meet the shifter. It should be fairly easy to see if something's broken or out of place. Good luck

my buddy had the same problem. Time to pull the tranny you need to replace a gear or two. Not exactly sure on the name of it but it was quite inexpensive and basically what happeneds was that two gears got stuck together. Ill try to get you a parts list or a picture of the parts.
