Hello, I have a 93 Talon ES. I replaced my clutch last night and I noticed some things. I am somewhat ignorant to what the springs in the middle of the clutch disc do. I get the jist of what the pressure plate does and the throwout bearing. But.....
I had this noise that would occur only when I left the car in neutral and running. It was like a chatter. I figured it was the throw-out bearing so I figured while I'm in there, the car has 115,00 miles, I'll change the clutch too.
Upon removing the pressure plate and the clutch disc from the car I noticed that it wasnt my throw-out bearing at all, the springs in the middle of the clutch disc were all loose and going everywhere. When I shake it, sounds just like the noise I was hearing. The metal surrounding each spring looks ripped like a piece of paper. The springs are barely held in. I wish I had a digicam to show pics, the resolution on my camera phone sucks. I was just wondering if someone could enlighten me a lil.
Lata.
