I always have used the redline MT-90 in tranny then redline heavyweight shockproof gear lube in the x-fer case and rear diff. Damn good stuff. :D

If it's good enough for the skunk talon, it's good enough for my Tampoon on wheels!

I've been using BG junk for years, gets my vote as well.

BG II here. I haven't found anything better and I've tried many combinations.

What is BG 790?

I had redline in my transmission when 2nd gear went, so I don't recommend that to anyone.

I run Coastal oil. Don't laugh. It works great. 80-90W. I am actually running the 80-140W right now.

I have also used the Castrol Hypo-something oil (80-90W) with similar good results. I didn't really notice any difference switching to these oils after running Synchromesh & the BG stuff btw. I feel much at ease since they are much thicker & viscous compared to the watery synchromesh.

The viscosity of the synchromesh concerned me too, but that may help the synchro problem I'm having. maybe i'll just have to drop a few bucks and try them both. It's just money.:slam: look proper grammer!

I just switched to Royal Purple syncromax full syn. So far I like it alot. I ran the penn syncromesh for a few years and I don't like how much it breaks down. Being as thin as it is,it's great for cooling the syncro's but offers minimal gear protection.

Are you running a high mileage transmission? If so yes, they do work well on heavy oils. My 160,000 mile transmission just loved 50/50 BG synchroshift and redline heavy. Now my rebuilt shep transmission is stiff with this mix due to, well, being new with tight tolerances. Once warmed up its ok though. This is a good mix because the BG helps the synchros work and the redline heavy shockproof helps protect the vulnerable gears. The 50/50 mix probably isn’t needed until 400+ whp though. So if your sub 400whp enjoy good shifting with regular BG or Pennzoil synchromesh. Mix in some redline heavy if your shifting is absolutely awesome just to protect the gears for when your being stupid. I’d stay away from the 50/50 in the winter months though.

FWIW I ran low 12’s on 3 year old BG synchroshift (bad idea, change fluids often). I then ran 11.80’s on 50/50 with the stock 160K transmission. I’m now running 11.60’s with the 50/50 on my shep stage II fwd tranny. I’ve never had a transmission failure to date in 4 years of racing.

I've got the typical aging dsm trans 102k, grinding into 2nd and 3rd, its probably too late. tried 50/50 synchroshift and redline 75w90. Same as before, If i go easy on it no problem, hammer it and grinds.:reallymad:
400hp?? maybe,maybe not.

Haha, nice. The coastal is what I just put in my pos altima that I don't give a shit about. :bash: It's the cheapest shit at autozone!
