First off let me apoligize in advance for my poor spelling and grammer. i am dyslexic and english was always a difucult subject for me(i have seen members threatened to be banned for poor grammer). With that said onto my engine problem. My car is a 98 eclipse spyder with the 2.4 4cyl the head stamp is g6k6 (thought this was odd my other spyder i bought for body parts has a g4k4 head stamp). Ok, now the issue my car is running bad really bad, has an extreamly rich exhust smell puffs black smoke backfires skips and stutters. The cel light is on and only showing engine running rich, the trouble shooter is not showing anything. Ok now heres everything I know about the car, I bought it not running the guy told me a mech. looked it over and determined a bad ecu. Since the stealership qouted him 2200$ to repair he decided to let it go. Also at this time the gounds goin into the last plug on the ecu had been cut I pulled a diagram and reconnected them properly the grounds for the 02's were also cut, repaired these as well. Replaced ECU with one from ebay and car still not cranking no spark no fuel nothing. Replaced fuel pump, coil packs, wires, and plugs, also i replaced the cam angle sensor the coolent sensors, MAF sensor, and power transistor. None of these fixed the problems but i figured it wasnt a bad idea to replace them anyway. AT this point I put it on a snap-on diagnostics computer, it showed the crank posistion sensor input bad. Pulled the timing belt cover found the small timing belt(?) broken this damaged the crank position sensor replced the sensor and both belts put everything back together and the car runs just runs really rich and I dont feel it is safe to run for any length of time. It has a very low idle around 400-500 rpms and sounds like it has a really big cam in it or something. Also when driving at 55 pressing the clutch the engine dies but releasing the clutch with the car it fires right back up just have to slow down in gear to keep the rpms from droping way to fast. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
