Ok I have some questions about some mods. Right now i took the resonator out and have the MAS and K&N Stuck down where the IC goes and pvc pipe going to the stock ntake, pacesetter header, header wrap, Gutted converter, flowmaster, accel wires, ngk plugs, ported and polished head, and 10:1 compression in a 90 2.0 Laser RS. I also have a stock 91 Turbo automatic Laser and my NT can beat it after they get moving. LOL
First i was wondering if i would benefit from a larger diameter piping from the cat-back since im using stock with just a flowmaster muffler.
Does anyone have an unorthodox underdrive pulley, and how do you like it?
Also i was thinking about an extrude honed intake manifold, is this only for turbos or would it help me out too?
I would like to advane the timing in this car too, is there a FAQ that tells you how somewhere?
And last how bad would my car vibrate with solid motor mounts and the balance shafts removed?
I know some people will say you already bought a turbo laser why build the NT. But theres just something about beating people and telling them its all motor.
Thanks for your time. Scott

I talked to one guy who said the pulley was THE BEST thing he did to his NT, better than the balance shaft removal.

I was about to wonder if i was going to get a response. lol Well the underdrive pulley is next on my list along with bigger exhaust piping. I think 2.25 or 2.5 should be plenty. . So that guy did the balance shaft removal too, How did he like it? Thanks for the reply. I didnt think it would help that much but thats great. I dont see why they dont make more stuff for our cars. Were faster than a lot of hondas to start with and just as easy to mod. I guess its just so much easier to buy a turbo dsm instead but its cool when you beat something or give something else a good run in an NT and there like, "is that a turbo", and you tell them no and they say "HUH?". See ya. Scott

Hey your top end will definately benifit from a bigger better cat-back but you do lose some low end. I have a '93 set up a lot like yours so the effects will probably be the same. As for balance shaft removal there is some concerns that it will kill the life of your engine, but there are some that say four cylinders dont need em. AEM does make a good kit to replace your pulleys and they come with belts too for about $80. As for my low end loss I hope to get a ZEX nos kit soon.

I will definately get an exhaust then. I could benefit from more top end. How big of pipe do you suggest? Do you know what site has those AEM pulley's for $80. That sure beats unorthodox's for $180 from Extreme. See ya.

I think with NT's the max size exhaust piping that is usually recommended = no more than 2.5", otherwise you'll lose all your bottom end.

If you remove the balance shafts and add a pulley, you're bottom end will increase dramatically.

I need some more bottem end. I have to rev high to even get it out of the hole. I'm working on an all motor DSM. Does anyone know of the fastest NT without nitrous?

Now are we talking about the same exact pulley that Unorthodox sells for the turbo DSM or a different one. How is the pricing on the pulleys

The pulley from unorthodox is supposed to be the same for turbo and nt's. Extreme sells them for $180 without the belts $210 with the belts. Plus you need the belts anyway. Might be able to find them cheaper.

The AEM pulleys only replace like the air conditioning pulley and the alternater pulley. They help take stress of the engine without removing vital engine dampeners. Theyre available through Summit Racing. http://www.summitracing.com Summit usually has everything we need in their import catalog and theyre allways the cheapest. Not to be a comercial its just that Ive had the best service with them and shipping is free.
