I'm looking into getting the Aiwa MP3 head unit. The thing is... Crutchfield.com says it won't fit into my Eclipse. Sounddomain.com says it's 6.63 inches deep. Is this really too deep? Most of the other radios that Crutchfield says that fit are 6.5 inches. Is that .13 inches gonna screw me? Or are they erring on the safe side?

What is the deepest radio someone has installed here into a 2G?

Thanks.

0.13 is not too much space. I have never heard of such
a funny thing as depth being a problem. Yet I do
remember my friends Beretta needing a plastic front
piece to let his deck stick out a bit. If you really
like the deck buy it and take it to a radio install shop
and I am sure they could get it to work. It may cost
you a few more dollars for them to fabricate something
but well worth it if it is exactly what you want.

As for size we have double din space so basically anything
SHOULD fit.

Good Luck.

Just finished my install of the Aiwa MP3 head unit. No problem with available depth. The Aiwa is advertised as 6.63 inches deep. On the Crutchfield site, the longest head unit comes to 6.5 inches. This unit fit with no problems, and as far as I can tell, there is plenty of room to spare, I didn't really have to squeeze it in there. Dunno where a max of 6.5 inches came from.
