My brakes are great at first, but after using them hard even a few times they turn to crap, i mean they shudder like hell unless i let them sit for a min or two without using them. And horrible brake fade from high speed, are the oem brake pads that shitty? anyone know of some better brake pads i can buy and what types people like the best, I dont know if ebc makes greenstuff that fits a 95 talon but im gonna check cuz i hear they are good, kevlar so nice braking and no dust and still do good even when not warmed up. How much of a difference will I notice in just brake pad upgrade, or adding sloted/crossdrilled rotors?

hmm...chances are if it's a 95 then I doubt they are factory...but...

Anyway, it's very possible that your rotors are under spec (too thin). If they are too thin they warp very easily.

Your best bet would be a brake upgrade (larger rotors).

Is it AWD? If it's not then that may be a good inexpensive upgrade.

its awd, Im gonna check out if the pads need replaced or the rotors do, i guess that could be causing it. I plan on getting better rotors and pads tho, just not right now cuz im broke.

I had the same problem! I replaced my front pads and developed a vabration after a few times of hard braking. SO I had to take the brakes off. If your pads are within spec thicknes wise have you rotors turned at any brake shop. It best if you take them of your self. Otherwise the shop will charge you an arm and a leg. But getting back to the pads. Since you had this problem I bet your pads are cracked. Not big time but if you look at them closely they will be. SO new pads are in order too. Turning the 2 front rotors costed me $20. Good Luck!

Have your rotors turned or just upgrade em, i just put on a pair of slotted rotors for a friend that was having the same problem, needless to say not anymore. He paid 160 for the front. But now he brakes as smooth as can be

Whats a good brand of rotor, not too expensive, 160 for a set sounds pretty good. And anyone have recomendations on brake pads? like what type, semi-metallic or carbon fiber etc, and what are stock brake pads made out of?

To answer your questions, the stock brakes are made of semi-metalic pads. I switched to carbon fiber brake pads I think they are the best for street use. There are other compounds but they squeek. I think the step up from carbon fiber is the racing compound. You don't want them if you drive your car on daily bases they eat upi your rotors. I should know. I have to change my rotors every 4 or 5 races when racing in SCCA. It becomes expensive after a while. So stick to carbon fiber for street use. As for Upgrades for rotors it all depends on your budget. I would stay away from cross-drilled I know too many people that had their cross-drilled rotters crack. $160 for slotter rotters sounds about correct. I paid almost the same for mine on 1G. I would recomand to change to steel lines vs. ruber. You will notice a differance the first time you step harder on the brake. I hope this helps.

how much do the steel lines run, I think ive seen like a steel line kit for $150 somewhere before. where can i buy them, and are they hard to install, i havent looked at the brake system at all, just wondering if it snakes back going up into the body and around stuff at all or is it fairly easy to replace stock lines.

I don't know how 2G has it brakes lines set up. I have 1G and they are a breez to put on. On 1 G the rubber hose is Connected to a steel line about half way up the shock. So actually what you are replacing is that rubber pices that goes form the calipper to the existing steel line. Once you put them on remember to vent your brakes others wise you will have no brakes no matter how hard you stay on the peddle. Check out Buschar Racing or Extreme I know one of them is cheaper. I think $100 is the going price @ BR. On 1G the kit should come with 8 and NOT 4 lines!

I think the shudder problem is getting better, it seems the more i use the brakes hard the better it gets, maybe the guy before me took it real easy (good thing =D). Oh and the stock rotors are slotted arent they? if i get new rotors im getting sloted and cross drilled, if they crack they crack, ill put on stock ones. I dont auto-x or really race that hard so i dont think it will be a prob. There a signifigant difference in braking with replacing just rotors?

The stock front rotors are'nt slotted. They are vented.
Slotted refers to the wear area on the rotor itself, having diaganol "slots" in the rotor. Venting refers to the front and rear wear areas being separated by "vanes", hence the term vented. It looks like a rotor placed back to back joined by thin bridges.
