Just purchased two 10' Audiobahn subs and an audiobahn amp (rated at 2x75 or 2x150 max). Is anyone else running audiobahn equipment. I'll let you know what it sounds like when I'm done.

i'm running 2 12" audiobahn aw1200's and a memphis 1100ad mono sub amp. right now the 1100 watts i'm getting from the aamp is throwing the hell out of these woofers and they could easil push more. only problem is that i don't know if my ears can take any more. i'm a total fan of audiobahn ever since i got these subs.

Mavisky,
How do you wire up an amp to go from 75X2 @ 4ohms to 105X2 @ 2 ohms.
I know bridging will up the power. However my subs are dual voice coil and I' not sure how to cut the ohm rating from 4 down to 2. Is this done by:
1. taking the positive from the right speaker channel to the positive terminal (first voice coil) on the sub ....
2. then taking the negative from that set of terminals (first voice coil)to the positive terminal on the second set of terminals on the same sub (second voice coil)...
3. and finishing by running the final negative back to the negative on the right amp channel.
Or would running the amp mono and connecting the subs in a series work best?
I'm not trying to offend you with the way I worded this but I'm trying to make it clear how I think it should be done. I just want to be clear without having to write back and forth time and time again
BTW are you runnig Focal Z1's on your car!!

i'm not exactly sure unfortunately. right now i'm running my subs parralel and it bridges them down to one ohm. but you can't run one ohm on just any old amp. oyu need to have a class D amp to do that. i did some searching around and found a few websites that helped me, plus there should be a diagram inside the instructions that come with the subs. what model numbers do you have exactly?
and sorry the rims are 16x7" enkei RF-1's, probably cheaper than the Focal's anyways.

I have the 2300E model. I know the info with the speakers shows diagrams but they confused me slightly. Just wanted to make sure. I have the AWC10D model subs, the websites I found said these subs were capable of 2 ohms.
In your experience is there any significant difference between running subs in a series or parellel? I have no clue.
BTW I like the enkei's too, I got mine for a great deal. They were on a car for a week and the guy decided he didn't like them so he traded them for another set. Got the set for $500.

Here is what I would do, your amp runs 105 x 2 at 2 ohms, or 210 x 1 at 4 ohms. To make it simple, run it at 2 ohm stereo, to do this:
Run each sub in parrallel to the amp, you have dual 4 ohm subs, 1 sub will be wired to each channel, connect both positives on sub 1 to the positive on the amp and both negatives on sub 1 to the negative on the amp. This will create a 2 ohm load for the amp. Do the same for the other speaker on the other channel. Hope this helps a little

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try that. I have the wiring set up on each speaker as follows. + from amp going to + on first coil, - from same coil jumping to + of second coil, and - from second coil running back to the amp.
I still have no thump.
The problem is I'm running off a cheap head unit so distortion is high. Going to try a better head unit as well.
If all else fails I'll try running both subs in a series/parallel and bridge the amp.

Just nit picking, you don't have to have a Class D amp to run a lower impedance, just make sure the amp can handle it. My Class A amp will do a 1/2 ohm with no problems, it will get hot though:-)

well you don't have to have a class d amp to run low, but you are putting your amp in the path of serious danger if you don't have plenty of air flowing around it to keep it cool. personally i would never run something that low unless it was designed to handle it. maybe i'm just a wuss though.

That's what I was trying to say:-) I have 2 Class A amps. One that I can run low and the other I can't. That's all.
