View Full Version : Any A/Ts with an AGP L2R?

I've read that several of us are planning on getting an L2R (myself included)-- so I'm hoping an A/T car will be able to handle that thing well enough (spool, traction, etc.). Does anybody have one on their car already and can give some insight? Or does anyone even have any educated guesses on how an A/T car will do with an L2R?

OK, I guess it's a little early in the L2R's life cycle to ask this question-- probably not too many cars that have one at all, let alone A/Ts. Well, forget the first-hand experience-- anybody with any wild guesses as to how it would do on a A/T with sufficient supporting mods? I'll even accept heresay, conjecture, and shots in the dark just to spark some conversation... :D

It'll probably work out great for automatics since it spools up so well. Suposedly full boost by 3500rpm. It should be great as long as you keep the stock cams. There's a few A/T guys running greens so I think this would only be better. I would sort of comapre it to a green with a BB center cartridge.

I went w/ the L2R "B"but have yet to install. I'm concerned because I have HKS cams(264i/272e) which I purchased a while ago and have not installed either. Should I go ahead w/ the install or get maybe a 264e cam instead. I know it sacrafices low end torque but if it spools that quick will it really be a problem. I currently have a Big16G P/C from EM and it spools 3200-3300 @20 psi. What do you think?

I have the L2R in and almost ready to go :D The lower intercooler pipe just doesn't want to stay on...so I ordered some tubing from jc whitney to make a better pipe. From the couple of runs we did the pipe blew off a 10psi so I can't really say much.

1Phat99 - Have you got yours on yet?

I wanted to bump this up to see

97TSI~ I 've been waiting for my 3" intake from Ext. Turbo, just got that in today, ordered it 2 mo. ago. Black powder coated, is that too much to ask? Guess how I feel about them? Anyway, just have to get some 660's and than it's a go. I'll keep you posted.

Haha...Guess why my turbo had to sit in the garage for 2 weeks. Yep you got it because Extreme Turbo didn't feel like sending it or even telling me about it. I had to bug them for days to get an answer...:realmad: sorry. Anyways yeah keep me posted, I only have 550's for now, too bad, we could've shared AFC starting points, if you have one that is. Oh well, talk to ya later.

For those interested, I got my IC situation figured out and took the car for a few runs with the L2R + stock tranny + 14 psi. Lag isn't bad even with Webcams and the fact that the cars really rich. Couldn't get it to spool while powerbraking but I think with some fuel adjustments I'll be able too.

I really need to get that shift kit cause the tranny is not happy about shifting anymore. It's shifting slower...not really slipping that bad, just has a little hesitation. My tranny was in perfect condition so I'm hoping not to hurt it before the kit.

Other than that the car is fast, real fast. I'm a little nervous about 18-20 psi cause even 14 was a little scary  but I will keep updates if you guys want me too.

Also, is the upgraded TC the key to spooling off the line?

Thanks

97TSI~What size injectors are you running? I would think 18-20 psi might be a bit high for pump, you running a higher octane at all. You definately need the shift kit, I went w/ the one from Dunrite,(Translab) I think makes it. Get that and the stall on your TC raised a bit. I'd also recommend the PTS kit form Lvl.10, kind of pricey but it really was noticable for me. The TC is the key at the line. I rarely powerbrake at the line, 90% of my races are on the highway. BTW, how'd you fix your IC?

1PHAT99 ~ I'm running 550's for right now. Ben told me it would be alright up to around 21-22 but anything after that I'd be maxing them out. I'm using 94 with good results. My intercooler pipes were blowing off so I made new ones...hard pipes throughout with welds instead of couplings...plus got some better clamps for the UICP and at the turbo. It's been fine so far. I'm gonna spend some time tonight after work messing with the AFC and get her tuned in.

If you don't powerbrake, how's the lag, what is your stall speed?

Word from the AT DSM list is that the billet torque converter from Precision Industries is almost ready to go, but I think right now it's just for 1Gs. Price is rumoured to be around $800. I haven't been paying too much attention to that discussion, since I'm not ready to get one just yet, so my facts may be a little off. Check out recent messages on the AT list for more info.
