Yea, got it and installed with it (and a wiring harness from Best Buy). I needed to solder the low-voltage trigger wire (blue one on the adapter) to the automatic antenna lead from the radio to turn on the (still) stock amp, and raise the antenna.
It looked like a solid piece. No problems with it.

if you buy an aftermarket stereo all that you have to buy is a harness kit from best buy or any other car stereo shop!

that harness kit from best buy... would that include the din to rca adapter that you would need to use the existing wiring (and amp that's under the seat) of the stock infinity system?

Hey jonathanGS-T becareful in choosing your power antenna wire for the remote turn on, because when you switch from the radio to CD player source the power generally shuts off from the power antenna wire. I would hook it to the Remote Power wire usually blue.
The reason I know is I had a car with a power antenna and an ALPINE 7839, when I hit the button to play a CD my power antenna would go down. Switch to the radio back up again.
If you use the power antenna wire your factory amp may shut off when you listen to a CD.
Hope this helps your install.
Josh.

Thanks... the wire wire coming out of the head unit was labeled power antenna (I think it was blue as well), and the instructions had a note that if there was an external amp, connect that trigger wire to the antenna wire. Works well. Both, amp & antenna, stay on while the unit is on. Except (and this is totally unrelated), the antenna gets gunked up and rarely goes down al the way now... especially when the salt starts flying around here.

Jonathan...
I got my OEM Adapter yesterday, and it didn't come with any instructions.
So I was wondering something.
My head unit (Alpine CDA-7838) has the RCA holes for the front and back L&R speakers. Do I have to unplug either the front or the rear in order for the OEM RCA plugs to fit in? Because I'm sure those are the only 4 holes that are on there. (I think).
Maybe there are 6 and I just don't know it, or maybe I'm in serious need of help :D
Thanx for anything ya can give me.

My head unit had 2 sets of rca outputs, (probably similar to yours) front and rear / left & right. Plug the din plug into the car's wiring (that used to go to the stocker) and the rca's into your alpine. You might get these backwards. Verify you got them in the right holes before screwing it into the dash with the fader/balance controls. (I got lucky on the first try) The wire that is coming out of the din plug is used to turn on the amp that is under the passenger seat. I soldered this to the power antenna lead coming from the radio. You might have a specific wire for turning on a remote amp. Check your wiring diagram that came with the head unit. good luck, mine works like a charm and havn't had any problems...

Well, got the adapter installed. But of course ran into a problem.
- Once the blue wire was crimped with the power antenna wire, the radio makes bad popping and crackling sounds, but the cd player works great, and the factory amp is now on.
My boss said it's a bad ground lead/wire, somethin like that. There's a black wire coming out of the head unit that just goes nowhere. We tried grounding it and it didn't help.
Any suggestions on what went wrong?
I can live without the radio though, I hate radio and I never listen to it other than Mancow in the morning :D

Do you connect the blue wire from the OEM interface to the power antenna that is coming out of the headunit or to the blue wire that's coming from the wiring harness?

I tried both blue wires seperately, and all 3 at once, heh. None of those attempts worked.

For me, if I connect the wire from the adapter to the wiring harness's blue wire, nothing happens.
If I connect it to the "power antenna" blue wire from the headunit, the whole car's electrical system cuts in and out (lights dim, HU restarts for every second (Only when listening to radio). If it's turned to cd/mp3, nothing happens. If I continue to let the headunit restart, the amp fuse blows.
If I connect it to the "other equipment/external amp" blue/white wire from the headunit, same thing happens except it happens all the time no matter it's radio or cd.
If I connect it to the ignition/acc red wire from the wiring harness, same thing happens as "external amp". The amp fuse blows.
So how do I connect this damn thing?

I just left mine unhooked :|
I think this might be needed? Since it shows up on the same page as the Oem Adapter.
