I have a '91 Laser 1.8. I pulled in the driveway, shut it off, tried to start it, and it wouldn't start. This happened about a week before this but it then started to run again. Now it's been two weeks and I definitely have no spark.
I have checked all of the wires; visually inspected the ECU for leaky caps, burn marks, bad smells and it looks like brand new; and replaced the distributor. I even bought a coil.....not realizing that on the '91 1.8 the coil is in the distributor...........whew...saved me $220 !!! I thought that was kinda high for a coil but didn't realize at the time it was a coil pack.
I've searched the archives here and the only thing I haven't done that has been mentioned is to check all of the fuses.
I'm not positive but I don't think the CE light comes on when powering up the ignition. This is a sign of a bad ECU?
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated !!!:(
Thanks !!

First of course check the fuses. You have covered pretty much the whole ign. system but make sure the timing belt didn't lose any teeth. Pull the top cover and have a friend crank the engine for a few secs while you check the belts condition. If belt doesn't move at all or has an area void of teeth then that is your problem.
