Has anyone done this conversion, is it difficult?

Also did you use aftermarket power locks or locks from a salvage yard.

Just need some info so I can decide about the addition of an alarm. I want power locks and can get the alarm system and lock conversion for about $223.

Also do I need all the guts of the door minus the window stuff to make the conversion?

Any help is appreciated!!!

Hey,
Are you sure you don't have power locks in your TSi? If you flip the lock on the drivers side, does the passenger side lock? If so, an alarm will work. I have keyless entry with my aftermarket alarm and it locks/unlocks the car with the remote.

DEI (viper) has a part and the model # is 524n this is just the motor

No powerlocks. However, I just realized that the guy who owned the car before me put an alarm system on the car and may have disabled the power locks when he removed the security system.

The retard didn't even remove all of the alarm. He just cut some wires and left some lying in the car not attached to anything.

I'll have to look to see if that is the problem. How hard is it to remove the door panels. I've removed other cars door panels before. I know all to well that some are easier to remove than others.

Thanks for the help!!

Yeah they're pretty easy to take off, I've done it many times. Just be careful not to break any of the plastic pins at the bottom.

I should have checked the fuse block. The previous own apparently pulled the power lock fuse.

Problem solved!!!!
