EDIT: Argh, I meant 17" Rims in the subject of the post. Mah bad.

Thinking of putting 17" rims on my 1G '92 Laser RS AWD. Looking at the selection at Discount Tire Direct. I'm planning to take the car on the track on occasion (mostly for road racing, not drags). Hoping for some opinions on the following rims:

#1
Enkei Inazuma
17X7 5-100/114.3 40S
$90.00 each

#2
Enkei Fubuki
17X7 5-100/114.3 40S
$90.00 each

#3
MIM Pescara
17X8 5-114.3 38S
$100.00 each

I'm a bit short on cash so you can see why I choose the less expensive ones. I'll do some more research on strength and weight of the rims. But let me know what you guys think. Thanks! :)

The Mims weigh 23lbs, stock wheels weigh about the same. Not to bad for a 17 at that price. I'd lean towards them since you can run a wider tire on a 8" rim than a 7" with less sidewall deflection. Remember all the power, brake mods, and suspension tuning won't do crap if you're running narrow and/or crappy tires.
On the other hand Enkeis tend to be light and have a good reputation, I have never heard from anyone with Mims.

I think I'd go with #1 or #2 due to the style of lip that they have.

The #3's would not look like 17's because of the lip.

The farther the spokes go out to the edge of the wheel the larger the wheel "appears"

I think #1 looks better with 17's

Thanks for the "fashion" advice guys! I was kinda leaning toward #1 myself. Ironically I decided to buy these used 16x8 rims I saw on DSMtrader.com instead. They're Mille Miglia Glide II's (here's a sample):

Not too bad. Looking forward to slapping some Kumho 225/45-16 on them. :D Thanks again! ;)

Hey guys...

I have a 91 FWD, just wanted to know what the max size of rims is that you can use on a 1G without causing problems... I'm thinking of getting the Konig Caffeines, which I could get in 17's... Can you fit bigger like 18 or 19? And what is the practical limit on width... Could I fit 245's?

Thanks!

Go with Enkei. They also have wheel weights listed on their web page.
