How do you get stub axles back in the trans?

I've got a strong feeling this question has been asked before, but I've searched the vfaqs and forums and can't find the answer.

Lots of comments on how to remove stub axle from transmission...pry it out But how do you get them back in?

I've pounded and it wont go. Also figured splines werent lined up so frequently turned axle slightly.....still no go in.

Again, this is a 2g (1995 Talon) Turbo 2WD Auto trans.

They werent too easy to pry out. So maybe they wont easily pop in as some have said.

I assume it can be tricky getting the splines lined up and the shaft straight.

Also, any body ever repair a 1" tear in cv boot with RTV?
:o

I took both axles out and they went right in with no problems. Don't try to fix a boot with RTV it won't work. Just get a new boot while it's easy to get too, plus it's cheap and easy.

Somewhere sombody sells slip over CV Boots. I cant remember who though. May have been EBAY.

I just grabbed the cup (close to tranny) and pushed it back in. A little grease on the spline first will not hurt. It takes a good Jam to get it in. There is the clip that falls into a slot. That is usually the hold up in the process.

My VFAQ here : http://www.plymouthlaser.com/axles.htm

Careful not too force the CV together and damge it....
