Ok so i installed a profec in my car. of course i disconected the battery. when i connected it again my batter said "CODE" I tried the code that was included with the car but it was wrong, I did it 4 times and now my deck says "OFF" and i cant even enter a code again. I went down the the dealer gave them the serial number for my deck. but I cant enter it in. I dont know how to get that OFF away. I pulled the battery again maybe not long enough? also the code they gave me had a 9 in it, I dont see how this could be since there isnt a 9 on the deck itself. I asked the dealer and the mechs what to do but they didnt seem to know shit. please help, I have been without music in my car for over 3 weeks now. Sucks in traffic

oh yea its a 3 in one CD,tape AM FM. in a 99 GSX eclipse thanx guys

heres how the radio code thing works:
if the battery is disconted the radio asks for the code again. You have 3 changes to enter it. If you get it wrong you get the OFF. Check you owners manual. I believe to get another 3 chances you have to leave it disconected for a certain amount of time, 10min? I forget.
there are 4 digits you use the 1st 4 keys to enter it in
read you owners manual its all in there.

This happened to me when I bought my used GS. You have to go to the dealer to get the code if you don't remember. And expect to pay around $60 just for the fncking code.

When I had to go in (my radio failed so I got a new one and they gave me the wrong codes) I just gave them the SN#. They didnt charge me.I think they charge you because they have to remove stuff (labor) to look at the numbner on the radio.

Well actually I didn't have to pay that $60, the place where I bought my car took care of that for me.

I bought my car (a 2G) off an individual who had almost every document pertaining to the car, EXCEPT the radio code cards. She had misplaced those. My crappy luck that I actually would need them. To keep a very long story short I installed a CD/Cass head unit in my car out of the later model year cars (mine is a 95). So, I thought I'd get the code for the radio so I would have it for future use. I called one of the local dealers and twas told I had to bring my car in so they could verify that the radio wasn't stolen. Like factory stereos are a top priority with thieves. Anyway I took my deck down to the dealer and asked about getting a code for it. I was told it was going to be 35 bucks to retrieve the code. Mind you, I had the deck out of the car sitting on their counter! I was extremely pissed at this point, I buy a car and through no fault of my own I was told I was going to have to pay 35 bucks for a guy to tap a couple of keys on his computer! I turned around and walked out after a few choice words about what I thought of their 35 dollar fee. Now I know why they want you come into the dealership, instead of doing it over the phone. So I did some seaeching through the Talon Digest archives and I found a post about there being a sticker on the console behind the deck that has the security code on it. Sure enough, I found a sticker right where The guy said it would be and it had a 4 digit number on it. I haven't tried it out yet because I'm still using my newer head unit. I thought that you might check your cars and it might save you guys some money. Now like I said, I haven't tried it yet so it is possible that it isn't the security code, but what do you have to lose? Its a little plain white sticker and is right behind where the radio mounts. I hope this helps some of you guys out. Good Luck

get the sn# off the back of deck, then call the dealer. They'll ask if its infinity or not. They'll give you the code.I had to do it with car already.since i misplaced the code card.

I just bought a 99 GS today and of course, no one has the radio codes. I tried the one I found in the car, but that didn't work. Called Mitsubishi and the service guy said.: When the radio says "off" put the key in and put it on ACC for one hour , touch nothing and the code will prompt again.Hope it works

Yes you are right, you have to put the key in ACC for about an hour or so then, the radio will turn off and when you turn it on again it says CODE, and then you put your 4 digit code with the instructions on the manual an you'll be set.
