Are there any real benefits to replacing the IC hose other than cosmetics?

HELL YEAH, that stock IC pipe kinks down to about 1" diameter near the fender wall. Replace your upper IC pipe with a Dave Brode or RRE piece, I believe those are the cheapest. I've had the RRE piece on there for over a year now with a 1g BOV and it makes a world of difference. Lot's more air, lots more boost, lots more power. But you need an aftermarket air filter such as a K&N in order to fit the aftermarket pipe in there. You're lower IC pipe should be fine unless you're pushing over 250hp.

Oh yeah and make sure you try the SEARCH button, because I'm sure there's plenty on this topic already. ;)

I agree.......they make a world of difference in power and throttle responce. BUT, i'd say replace the lower one too. The stock on expands/flexes like a bitch under pressure.

Its a no brainer. Get a UICP at least. I just put the Dave Brode Pipe on my car. Holy crap what a difference. The car makes 1 to 2 psi more boost, and feels stronger. .. just from that mod alone. Also, his customer service was excellent.

Here is my Dave Brode UICP. The thing gave considerable more power in 2nd and 3rd gears.

yes, the upper i/c pipe gets pinched to all hell right at the fender well. look into www.dejontool.com for a nice combo, and its not so bad on your wallet.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to be sure there was a real benifit.

Mods to be done in the next month are a K&N FIPK, UIC hose & a 1G BOV.

do you already have a boost gauge? and....with just those few mods, you're probably going to want an mbc as well. if you don't have the boost gauge, get that first.
