View Full Version : choice of turbo timers?

Hey guys, I know this question has been asked before about turbo timers... I have looked into a few and I think I have found my choice: the blitz dual turbo timer. Reason being.. it's only about $150 including the harness.... it's also an auto timer with all the whiz bangs.

The other one that was recommended by someone here said the HKS type 1, but this is not an auto timer, so I wanted to see if anyone has opinions for this blitz one.

The greddy one is just plain and simple, it's cheap.. but for another $50 bucks or so, it would be cool to have an auto timer as well as a boost gauge etc on the timer.

Comments?

Thanks!

I have the HKS V Type 0. It is an automatic timer. I don't see why the Type 1 wouldn't be automatic since it has even more features over the Type 0. I wish I would have bought the type 1.

Hmm, well according to the little blurb it isn't an auto timer! It has the stopwatch, distance/time, rpm peak/hold, rpm warning.. and that's it... hmmm well it sounds like the blitz boost gauge is hard to hook up, does anyone know? I am told there is no good places in the firewall to put it... and I can't find one myself.

For my stereo install I ran the cable around the hood outside and in through the door.... anyone have any good places to run wires through the firewall?

The Blitz dual tt is a waste. My buddy has it and never uses the boost part of it. Too damn small and it's in bar. As for the auto function, all I've heard is it doesn't work (if this one has it) cuz no matter how hard you run the car and turn it off, it'll do 30 seconds. Just get a basic tt. I have an Apexi and I can't complain, but they all do the same thing.

I was reading around and found out that the auto timer doesn't work so hot.... I think my choice may be the HKS type 1 since it does the timing etc for me... either that or if the greddy one is pretty... I guess now it comes to what looks better to me :)

Thanks for your replies!

i have greddy, nice and simple, i set it at 5 mins usually, i mean who cares if it runs for a long time after u are out of it, plus i just like to be safe, i usually just hit the second preset and run it for 10mins after racing, well anyways, i mean why do u need all that extra stuff, i mean i hope u have another boost guage if u are worrying about a TT, well i got my greddy of the dsmtrader for $50 with harness, and it was in great shape, so i'd check there
oh yea with the greddy u can program your own music i am not sure about the others, well this is kinda stupid but its there

I have the HKS Type 1 and it's great! Very easy to hook up, and it's never let me down. There are auto-presets on it for the timer function.

If I were getting another one, I'd get the Type 1 all over again. It's never let me down, and is simple. Extra features are nice as well.

Just my $0.02.

I've got a HKS Type-1. It was a lot easier to install than I thought it would be. Reads Speed and RPM, Auto adjusts time to your driving style. Highly recommended, and priced just above the Type-0, so why not?

Can we move this out of the car audio tech section???

Does the greddy and the HKS use the same install harness? What do you have to do to use the features. Any extra wires?

I've never seen a need for one of these things.
I've been running the same FP Green since '03 on a daily driven car. After daily driving DSMs for 17 years, with zero turbo failures, I've concluded that my money is best spent elsewhere.

Pull down your sun visor and read what it says. Why take the risk?
And it makes you feel like a badass when your car stays on after you get out.

I'm saying that I don't believe that there is any evidence of risk.

No signs of coking and no failures over a very long period of time tell me that it's much to do about nothing.

I have the Apexi and it works fine. All turbo timers are pretty much the same. They all do the same thing.

Running a Greddy TT and it works pretty good! I can set it up to 10 minutes if I want, very simple design and looks good.

Also matches the Profec.
