I bought my Talon with a cracked gasket in between the exhuast manifold and turbo housing... I ordered a new one from satan and installed it

BUT

I have a ported 2g manifold. I never checked to see if the gasket hole was the same size as teh one on the manifold. :( :o

Is the gasket causing a restriction? Will I have to port it out? Thanx

im guessing the dealership installed your gasket? if you saw it you could probably tell it would not hold up to any "porting." just get the right size.

since your sig says you have a 16g and you have a ported manifold im guessing they are both 7cm2(squared)? if they are and you didnt tell the dealer they would give you and install the stock size gasket, 6cm2, so check and get the right size in there. the wrong size would hurt flow, definitely worth it to replace, but id doubt your damagine anything.

oh and if you didnt know 7cm2 and 6cm2 doesnt mean the actual diameter of the holes, it refers to the volume inside, hence cm squared referring to a volume(i dont know how to type exponents). so if u actually measure the holes they wont actually be 6 or 7 cm

Thanks for the response :)

I wouldn't pay a dealer to install a 4$ peice of metal :) But the way I installed it, i couldn't see the ports of the manifold. I slid in the gasket with always at least one screw in the manifold so I didn't have to take anything apart. Took a whole 5min that a dealer prolly woulda charged 50 bux for. :P

I ordered the gasket for a 1g talon tsi awd...so im guessing I got the 6cm :( Can a dremel fix this? Or should I just order a 7cm?

btw...you sure how thats how the gaskets are measured? If 7cm(squared) was the area of the circle in the gasket, the diamater would be 2.98cm. :-\

right if you said 1g talon awd then they gave you a 6cm. just order the right size.

when i said volume i meant its the volume inside the entire manifold or turbine housing, something like that, its been described other places better. try RRE for a better definition, look in the tech tips.

btw im not sure if the dealer would even stock a 7cm b/c i think it only comes stock on the EVO, so you might have to order one from RRE or somewhere

um, cm2 is area, volume is cm3 (centimeters cubed or cubic centimeters)

oh yeah what was i thinking

neway my point is just that 7cm is not a diameter

i may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but what i would do is take the thing apart, and see if the gasket hole is the same size as the manifold. if not, you probibly could use a dremel.
