hey well i have had the alpine tv/dvd player in my car for a while and its worth the money but the damn $800 dvd player wont play burnt cd's my old $300 kenwood did just fine, so i am wondering if this is the same with all alpine cd players, or just the dvd/cd/video cd player, i think its the dva9025 i have or something like that
thanks

It may be the disks that you are burning on. I had a problem like that once (but not with an alpine deck). I was using some cheap generic disks and they would not play. I burnt them to better disks (TDK, SONY...) and they worked fine.

well i cant remember the brand, but they werent the cheapies like the stack of 100 for like $20, but its just weird that they played in one of my cd players but not another, and they play at home, who knows, this damn technology stuff, gets ya everytime

Also, are you converting the mp3 files to wav? That what I have to do to get mine to play in most cd players. To convert I used winamp. I used this method to get them to work with my Eclipse 7002 tv/ changer and setup. Just a thought.

if the cd plays in a home cd player, it will work in the car one. Unless your stereo manual says specifically it won't play them.
If it doesn't work in your home cd player either, make sure you closed the disc. I forgot to do that once and it wouldn't work of course.

I was just at Alpine's website (www.alpine1.com)
and under the products I found your dvd player, which
is dva-5025, and it doesn't say it's cd-r compatible.
For all the cd head units it says cd-r compatible.
Wow what a oversight on a $800 player. =|

The local stereo shop's demo car has that same system in it and they cannot play CD-R's either, they use a stand alone CD player in the rear of the car and send it through FM modulation to use CD-R's. Hope that helps.

well i guess if they have to go through all that to play cd-r then it doesnt play them, man this sucks,
thanks everyone

yeah, that does suck. i don't understand the phenomenon here buti have two recorders a pioneer 555rw, that records in the "consumer"format and my ibm that has a sony burnrer in it. disks produced on either system will not play on my wife's jvc office system but will play in everything else.
i'm hitting office depot, there is a sale on bulk cd-r.
200 cd-r for free....in-store rebate+mail-in rebate = free
see you when i get back.........greg

There ARE some car cd-players that don't like ISO9660 :( Try burning not 'track-at-once' but 'disk-at-once' or vice a versa.

Like someone said before, it's because it's a DVD player. Even most home DVD players won't play CD-R media. Although now a lot of home players are starting to be able to read CDR and CDRW media. If you had a plain CD player you prolly wouldn't have a problem.
