I need some help trying to get 4 guage wire through my firewall to power my amps. I'm pretty good with cars but this I cannot seem to figure out. I've tried sticking through the grommett (couldn't figure out how to get it through), tried steer boot (can't reach it), or tried the speedo cable (couldn't find where it came through from the firewall to inside the car). Could someone post step by step instructions on getting it through the easiest way on a 1992 eagle talon. Thanks

Make a new hole, get a gromet and drill a hole in the best location you can find, making sure there is nothing behind it. That is the easiest way about it. I do it in most of the installs I do.

I just hooked up my amp yesterday with 8 gauge but that shouldnt matter. I routed it throught the speedo. I knew where it was because I had to replace it. To find the speedo cable, find the top of your tranmission. On the top towards the back there is a cord going into it. That is the speedo cable. Follow it to the firewall. The cable goes through the firewall under the clutch master cylinder. Look in that area. Just take out the rubber gromet and feed the power cable through. I didnt bother to replace the gromet, I have had it off since dec and have had no problems. Good Luck.
There is about a 2 X 2" area on the firewall that's right next to the throttle cable... I fould this to be perfect for not only my 4 AWG wire, but also had enough room left over to run a vaccume line for my Boost gauge and the data cable for my Profec A Boost controller.
I stongly recomend that you use a "UNI-Bit" to do the drilling... Also be sure to use a plastic grommet to keep the wires from being chewed up by the sharp edges of the hole. -Hope this helps

On my 92 tsi, there was a grommet pritty much behind the battery on the firewall.
Used a screwdriver to open it up a bit, attached the wire to a coathanger, then shoved both into the grommet.
Took a bit, but finally got the end of the wire through, underneath the dash on the passenger side, then just ran it all the way back.
