The box has a pair of 12's and is easily removed for more space or to save weight. ;)

Hey racer,
Buy doing that you would end up with an iso-baric setup. There are good and bad that go along with it. If you are only going to have 2 subs, I'd stay away from it. Even though I have 4, it only "sounds" like I have 2. That type of setup only requires half of the air space though:) Nope, I'm parting out my car, I got REALLY sick of it. I'm staying away from Mitsus for a little while:)

I ran 1 10 and later 1 12 and later still 2 12s in my old Jetta III. The one 10 was nice and loud. The 12 was a little louder and lower but still very nice. The 2 12s were not too much louder than 1, due to less power (~150x1 vs 100x2)

I also ran 1 12, sealed, in my 1G before building my double ported box. In such a small car, 1 12 was plenty loud.

sounds good man, I would like to see how it ends up, i'm trying to get my car to a show, but I want it to look great and sound great, I'll ask my employer if they could hook me up with a custom exhaust, maybe a split side exit (borla), coming out of the side skirts or rear bumper...i don't know yet, thanks for your input man...later

How about a three chamber dual bandpass sub enclosure? I made mine for 12's, but you could do it for 15's. Hell I built one for my best friend with 3 10's.

thanks bro, I saw all your picks. I had a friend that told me that he saw at a show two 12" in a 14W X 14H X 18L, compleately sealed, the two woofers were facing each other, and according to him, "it was pounding hard!!" with the clearest bass he've ever heard, has any of you tried this?? is this a special set up??....later

You can get anything to poung hard so long as you have the correct cubic space requirements. Now what you're describing, did it have two subs facing each other in the same chamber? Was that chamber sealed? Ported? I need more details that 'two subs facing each other', but it sounds like a bandpass design of some form.

I hit 142.3 decibels with my previous box, and this one is louder still. Just be thorough in the design and a perfectionist in building it.

yes, they're facing each other in a compleatly sealed box, just a board in the middle so the two woofers can get a grip on. I hear what u say bro on the specs.
my 15" sound sweet, they could handle 1200 watts each, but then again, they need alot of space, know what I mean? :) I'm even thinking in adding another Puch 200, so I could have an amp for each woofer.
I wish I could get a sponsor for the sound, but how do you do it "GSwede96"??? keep those pics and advise comming guys, its helping me a lot, who knows, maybe some other guys out there are getting anwers also!! thanks to all!

Damn..that box is HUGE..how much does that thing weight! I need to take some pictures of my box. I used a computer to build it. Takes up little space and holds 2 12's, and really sounds good. Ill try to get some shots today.

The answer to the "2 subs facing each other" is..... an iso-baric setup. It is what I have, um had. http://www.tusktechnologies.org/my_car/the_tunes/pictures/pictures.html

I thought they were going to take down my site on the 03/01/2001, god only knows how much longer it will be up.

Slowly being parted out :(

I never specifically weighed it since it was made with only two thoughts in mind: 1) removable on race day and 2) loud as possible. (the third thought that came about later is "damn I'm a lot safer in a side impact collision now.") But do the math: one full 4' x 8' x 3/4" sheet of particle board + two subs @ ~20 pounds each + one amp @ ~25 pounds + carpet + wire + two fans + neon light + half a box of galvanized screws + two tubes of silicon sealant = ~125-150 pounds.

I doubt I can add anything new to this conversation, but I have 3 JL Audio 12W6's in my 95 GST and they are running on an XTANT 1001 (1000 watts) amp. The setup is simple..Ran the speakers parrallel so they each get 333.33 blah blah blah watts. The box slopes from the front of the trunk, by the bck seat, up to the taillight access panels. Kinda like a 45 degree angle..The subs are in a triangle pattern. I left about 5 inches between the back of the box and the tail light access panel, so I could still get to the lights. Ummm like I said it's simple, but the configuration makes for extremely high SPL, especially with the rear seat down. After about a two week break-in period I went back and put the subs to the test..They hit 151.2 dB's with the seat down. Like I said I don't think I added anything new to this board, but if anyone is stuck on wether to mount their speakers facing up or towards the back, I'd go with up..Oh yeh Pics soon...Peace

I should take a pic of my box in my hatch with 2 10" Wal-Mart Road gear speakers, and my old Punch 60 with no endcaps and wires everywhere.. it would really motivate some of you! Oh, and right now, it the amp or something keeps turning on and off by itself when I hit bumps, or turn corners. :D You should see me driving along weaving around, slamming on my brakes, trying to get my subs to come back on...It is quite a sight! :D :D I guess it is a loose wire somewhere, but I am too freakin lazy to fix it...
