ok i just had a shop put in a new timing belt and when i picked it up there seemes to be a loss in power. its a little louder and when i downshift it does not slow down as fast. i think that they mis-timed it. i am guessing on this one cause i didn't do it. if anyone has any idea what this may be please post it. also if it is the timing what are some of the issues with it, i need the car and the shop is closed tommaro so i wanted to know if i could drive it like this and if there was any problems that may come up if i do.

thanks in advance

Sounds to me like it's off timing (off a tooth or two). You can drive it like that until you take it back to them to fix it. It will just be slower...:(

ya, thats sort of what i figured. now what would happen if i went the other way? if i went 1 tooth advance would that lean it out too far? i dont have an A/F gauge or and EGT to check for myself but i was thinking that it may be good for some power...i need all the help i can get.

again...thanks in advance

no.. it would still just be fuged up. You want the timing belt on correctly regardless of if you want to advance the timing a little or not. You fine tune your timing by turning the distributor. You can advance it a few degrees there if you want. That could be your problem or it could be something different. Is there alot of vibration? If so your balance shafts could be out of phase when the put the belt back on. But when my timing was off a tooth there was alot of vibration too, like its something that i deffinatly noticed not just something slight. Or hey it could just be the timing at the distributor... if so then thats an easy fix. Bring it back to the shop and tell them its not right and that you want them to redo it. Be adiment that it was done wrong and they really should give you too much of a problem. Good luck
