i just replaced the alternator in my car and i ran into a little snag in the process that i thought would be good for anyone who is doing it to know. once you remove the 2 bolts that hold the thing in place and remove the belt and wiring you will realize that you cannot get the unit out of the hole that its in. unless you take the spash shield from the bottom out which looks like a PITA you look to be hosed. the trick that i found and ill bet that a lot of other people have found it to remove the radiator fan. its 2 bolts on top and one on the bottom, dont be like me and try to pull on it cause someone says that its on sliders. once you get that off the unit comes out with no problem and gives you a lot more space to work.
hope that this helps someone. and someone hasn't posted this before

Either of you guys have a problem with your alternator kinda twisting inward? i put a new alternator on, (same belt) and i swear the thing moved in twoards the fender about a half inch....when i start the car, i swear it i can hear the bearings in it grinding..... you guys notice anything like that before? i think its cause of that weak design for that bottom bolt on them

i know it sounds ameture and insulting but did you tighten down the lower bolt? its the one that the alternator pivots on so that you can tighten the belt. i almost forgot to tighten it so i thought id make sure you did, that would make it flex like a mofo.

Deffinatly not, it should be rock solid. I would check your bolts if I were you, soemthing must be loose.

i tightened the hell out of all the bolts... i think that there might be somethin jacked up with the alternator itself.... i looked at the old one before i turned it in for the core, and i swear that the opening that the bottom bolt goes through is smaller on the one i took off.... and i didnt take that the wrong way... i just started workin on this thing alot, and any help is appreciated..... if it warms up today, imma go take a look at it again... thanks for the advice!!

I think this is sticky material, no?

you might go to wherever you got it and trade it in. errors happen. as for the sticky thing it seems to be keeping above some of the other threads so i think its ok for now. if a mod wants to sticky it go for it.
