I know Mitsubishi had a 1.8L dohc in the mirage and colts will these heads fit the TEL, 1.8's? I personally could not figure out why they would not. I was just wondering maybe an effective upgrade. Thanks

No they will not fit the 1.8 SOHC, the 1.8 has a different set of sleaves in the block, no way will it work. Keep it SOHC.

I guess I will do the whole engine swap then. The DOHC has to be a better starting place then the SOHC. Thanks for the info.

If you're going to do an engine swap, then why not go with a 4g63 (2.0L) or you could just turbo the 4g37(1.8L) instead.

As Ive said before on this board (but nobody listens) Engine swaps are normally a losing financial proposition. Cheaper to sell your car and buy a GSX or a TSi AWD. But it is your money.

I already have a 90 laser RS turbo. So I am keeping this one NA That is why the engine swap. I have a donor car I can get for $400 whole car wrecked in the rear. My trans is bad so I figure I will start with a better platform to begin with. It does not work out I can always go to 2.0 NT. As for buying another car Why I have so much work in mine and there is a sentinmental value that you cannot add up. No car is worth mine in my opinion. Thanks for the list though very detailed.

You could always build a Turbo DOHC 4G64 (2.4L) and smoke turbo 4G63s with it :D (my next project)

Or you can sell your car and buy a Spyder with the 2.4 and just DOHC that way. THen you have a convertable :)

Where is the best place to get a 2.4L? I really want to keep this one NT becuase I have a Turbo already. I just want this one to show with quite abit of go but no turbo. I have over $4,000 wrapped up in my turbo car now.

Junk yards. Galants have them, and 2G spyders. Installation will be... challenging. The 2.4 has more in common with a 2G 4G63 block. But if you're planning a full swap anyway, the 20% additional displacement is nice :D

You want a classy NT? Just keep it 1.8 and get a chrome valve cover and get a dress up kit, or even build your own and make that baby look schweet and ricey. Here, get a blitz kit while your at it :)

Yeah those Blitz kits are sweet. We have done some stuff to the car already when my friend owned it. I was helping him find stuff for more power and dress up the body. But know that it is mine I am going all out with it. We are working on a way to targa top it. And we are customizing the hood with lexan panels to show off the motor. Thanks for the help and for the ideas.

Which engine is the 4G32? 2.0L DOHC NA? Or 2.0L DOHC Turbo? What car is this engine in? Thanks.

Neither. It's a 1.6L turbo from the 84-87 colt/mirage turbo. There's a TURBO FAQ on this forum.
