2 12's... should i face up or back??

i have 2 12" Audiobahn ALUM. The box will be 1 cu. ft. for each sub hole. Should I face them up toward the hatch or back toward the tail lights? They would probably sound better backwards, right? But it would be easier to fit upwards. Any suggestions?

Toward the back....Its called compound loading and it causes an additional amplification of the standing wave that the subs produce by reflecting that wave off the ever narrowing rear of the car

Yeah, face em back. Although they'll sound fine facing up too.

My current box with two 12's is a bandpass design, and I love it. The ports come out just above the rear seat. The previous box had 'em face up from the height of the rear seat. That should have sounded good (in theory) because sound waves bounced off the glass and headed forward thereby 'hitting' me in the back of the head. Problem was that box wasn't the right size, wrong amount of air space; dumb mistake on my behalf. Box before that I had them facing forward & up at a 45 degree angle and hit 142.3 db. (I have pics of all of these boxes, so just ask if you want to see the designs.)

It's personal preference and style, but make SURE the cubic space requirements are perfect. Just remember whatever design you go with, make sure it's bolted down and a bitch to steal. ;)

Face them back..about 2-4 inches away from the plastic molding. I had two Orion NT2 12's and I hit 148db. This was with a 400w hifonics Boltar amp and no other real mods. It was nice...but then I moved up to 4 CHEAP twelves and hit 153. I actually got paid on the trade for my old orions for the new speakers. Then the shop re-did the whole system for free, and it dropped to 151db. Oh well..no more bass for me..WAY TOO HEAVY! Maybe one ten...but I don't want to get anything too much..cuz its just like speed..once u have a little..you want too much!
