Well, I received my package today of my new Audio System for my Talon, im not one into making my car in "ANY" way more heavy (hehe i even have my rear seats removed" but I have been thinking of adding a whole new audio system for my talon for a LONG time here we go....
Sony MDXC 6500X Front Deck, (MiniDisc Unit) 50Watts x 4 remote etc... Real sweet! (I got the minidisc deck so I can store the little discs real easy!)
JVC CH-X350RF (12 disc changer) -Features: 12-disc CD changer, FM modulated, Full floating, 3-beam laser tracking, Remote control, BBE2/Intro play, nice unit!
JBL P-632
6 1/2 real nice speakers
JBL P-532
5 1/4 inch speakers
JBL P-432 Speakers
4"
The speakers are pretty powerfull all over 200watts and apparently there real good quality....
I have a lot of work to do with installation, and I had one quick question, all these speakers say they are like 200+watts each, with the deck only being 50watts x 4, let me guess I need an AMP????? Can someone please recommend one that will have real nice quality sound, (im not looking for distortion and low sound quality)
thanks !!!

First off, you shouldn't have bought an RF modulated changer. The sound quality is terrible compared to a linked changer. The sony minidisc changer does have CD changer control, so regardless of price you should have bought a sony changer. Sony makes a pretty nice anti skip memory changer that retails for about 249.95. I am guessing you bought that JVC for 199.95. Too bad you don't live in ID, you could come into my stereo shop and I'd hook you up. As for the wattage ratings, never believe what you read. Sony claims to be putting out 50Wx4 however this is an overinflated peak power rating. A bridged transformerless amplifier just isn't capable of producing this much power. Sony doesn't even use MOSFET transistors. No matter what the power ratings are, everything always sounds better off a good clean power supply (amplifier). I would highly recommend a high quality amp. Just stay away from jensen, thump, audiovox and other generic brands. Try to find a good deal on Pheonix Gold, PPI, Xtant, Poineer/premier, rockford, alpine, or kenwood. You will be happy with any of these amps. Good luck man, let me know how everything works out for you.

Inorder to run 6 speakers with out damaging anything, your gonna need an amp too.
Most companies are respectable for quality amps. I've had a coustic 365 (2x75) for 5 years and not had any problems, but it cost me ~$300 and I just got a Lanzar VIBE240 (2x200) that seams OK for now for only $185.
The 200W rating on your speakers are the peak numbers. Look on the boxes to find the RMS ratings and try to find an amp that matches. I'd look for something 4x50W RMS @ 14.4V with a built in crossover. Rember, its better to slightly overpower speakers(but that'll be hard w/ 200W'ers) than to underpower them and add distortion. If you could find it, an a/d/s 6 channel amp would be perfect, it's like 6x35W but it retailed close to $1000.
The RMS rating of that sony is probally around 4x7.5W or so. Just compare the physical dimensions of a quality amp that does 4x50 and the amp within the sony. And remember, there is also the MD mechanism and tuner in the sony too.

How many preouts on that deck? I believe three front rear and sub. 6 channel amps aren't a real common aplication. You might end up going with a 4 channel and paralleling 2 sets of speakers on the rear channel together. That would drop your impedence down to 2 ohms on the rear channel giving you twice the power. Another thing, when you go to compare wattage on amplifiers, pay attention to the voltage and ohm load which they were tested at. Most amps are tested at 14.4 volts. Are you running 14.4 volts? If not you won't get the full rated power out of the amp. Another thing to realize, ovcoarse is that a 14.4 volt rating will be a bit higher than a 12 volt rating. VxA=W or something like that. With the amp, another thing you might consider is running the smaller speakers, the 4" off of the deak and use a 4 channel for the rest of the speakers. This would be a 4 ohm load to all of your speakers. Let us know how it works out for you man.
about 50 percent of music is bass, which you'll be missing out on without a sub. a 10 inch sub can do wonders and you could just get a fiberglass box or something that won't take much weight.

If you know anybody that works at best buy have them just get you one of their ROCKFORD Punch 400s I believe, a buddy of mine just used his discount for me and it was $208 for a 4x100w amp... good deal if you ask me.

That is a good deal on a punch 400A4. Now is the time to buy rockford because they are closing out all of their old models for cheap. The 400A4 puts out around 480-550 W RMS, all channels driven at a 2 ohm load. Assuming the output will be 550, the amp will be approximately 4x55 W RMS at 4 ohms. The rockford amps are usually tested at least as high as 14.4 V

Yeah, I hope it is enough for what I need. I'm really not into systems at all anymore, mainly just performance. But I saw the deal and decided what the hell the stocker amp sucks, I'd like to have it sounding a little better anyway. The last time I was really into audio was the last time Rockford was changing their amp models :) lol, it has been a while.
