Whenever i start my car it will jump up to 1000 then go down to 500 or even stalls, the check engine light stays on when the rpm is extremely low, then when it disaperas idle returns to normal 1500 warmup....then when i start driving around whenever i go into neutral idle will plummet once again to 500
then about 5 min later it will go back to normal rpm then stay there until i shut the car off
i looked up the ALLDATA at my auto class and up came a common issue with 1.8 dsmers about a certain idle sensor or code 15
is there anyway i can fix this sensor or do i have to buy a new one
and btw this prob started happening after i installed my system
not sure if its a coicidence or not

How many wats is your system. If your system is powerful enough, you could be pulling more power then your alternator can produce, thus giving you problem running.
Try adjusting your throttle. I forget the technical term for it, but it's a little screw on the throttle body. One tip, make sure you mark it before adjusting so you can bring it back. If it does help, then you could have other issues. It could be an idle sensor. It coudl be other issues as well. Check your plugs, wires, etc. etc.

its not very big thats why i ruled it out
a 250 watt pioneer 8 inch with ported box followed by a 222w sony xplod amp
and i dont want to change the idle screw because idle does return to normal after about 5 minutes!

Idle air control motor strikes again. These things should be available wholesale. You can get one from mitsubishigraveyard.com but I don't recommend it. I'm on my 2nd ISC from them, and it's acting up again. If you can afford it, buy it new. It's about $200, but it'll last the life of your car.

just an update:
i cleaned out my throttle body, damn it looked like it was never cleaned in its 10 years of existance, right after the car started up immiediately, no 2-3 cranks, but now it idles at 2000 rpm
so i think i have to reset my ecu, that should solve the problem
i also have a open crack on my plastic intake pipe, so maybe i should ducttape that shut

you deffinatly have to seal any vacume leaks, they can do the weirdest things in the world to your car. So get those fixed up first thing. Check your plugs/wires/cap/rotor/air filter. Do compression/leakdown checks. Bad headgasket can cause a bad idle too... and in case you dont have a manual I scanned my Haynes one for ya ;) I'll put the link up in a few minutes...

Do you have to take off the throttle body to clean it or just spray cleaner on it?

To really clean it good you should take it off, take the sensors off of it and scrub it out good with some of that carb cleaner and a rag or a toothbrush or something along those lines. But yeah you can clean it a little with it on the car. Just spray the stuff in to the TB. (some say with the car running, some say with it off) I dont think it matters much because your not going to clean it that much doing it that way anyways.
