Currently I put my amps on one of those carpeted boards that is like the kind you build sub boxes. The amps are screwed on and the board just lies it the trunk, it doesn't move anywhere.. However it must weight like 10-20 lbs.

I was wondering what else I could do to mount the amps without the heavy board. That will help drop some weight from the back of the car and help quite a bit. Thanks.

If the Box is big enough just mount the amps to the box itself. OR run the ires in the back seat and mount the amps to the back of the seat (one on each fold down side)

you can mount it on the back seats just make sure everything is well grounded. if you screw the amp into your backseats it could create a ground loop and pick up some noise. also, make sure there is enough clearance between the fins and the trunk if it is mounted horizontally. if the fit is tight, overheating of the amp might occur. just a heads up. my girlfriends 4 channel was mounted like that without any probs, so hopefully you will have the same luck.

woo hoo!!! that was my 100th post :)
for me and my 2g i am having my amps mounted on a custom made foam stand(amp rack). the rack/stand will weigh about 1-5 lbs. if that. my sub enclosures will also be made of the same stuff, but i'll be paying for it. the enclosures might have to fiberglassed. i'm paying approx $50-60 per box. with 3 magmas the cost will be about $150+ not including the stand.
just wanted to post a different route other than backseat

It doesn't have to be fancy :) I don't have a very good system. Is there anyone who screw their amps onto the trunk floor board?

I did into the spare tire cover. It held in place but I didnt want to put anything over it so it wouldnt overheat. You could get 5% tint on the Back Window and put the amps on the Hatch cover

How about install the amp upside down from the trunk side? would that work? You should see the nut from the interior side, but hmm interesting idea.

yea that would work, but im not exactly sure how much weight that hatch cover can hold. I think it would hold about 10 15 lbs worth of amp

I'm doing that, but I'm making a new cover to be sure that I have enough clearance over my subs.

I'm using 1/4" Hardboard(Masonite). I'm putting 3 layers together and making cut outs for my amp and crossover so that they are recessed then I'm going to bolt then carpet to hide to ends.

You can mount some amps upside down.I would make sure that the amp you have is capable of being mounted upside down.

Tech T had a good point,
ie. cadence A7hc and A5hc's should not be mounted upside down, if your manual doesn't say then call the manufacture. :)

the reason they do that is so the amps don't overheat, since heat rises. yada, yada...

:(

I want to take out all the floors and stuff in my trunk, I think I'll just take everything out and duct tape the amps in the spare well.

Mounting any amp upside down is a no no! Unless the heatsink is not mounted upside down also. Heat rises and makes it harder for the amp to disapate heat. It depends on what amps you have, and how much work you want to do, because I can think of some cool looking ways to mount them, just that it would take probably 50 hours of fiberglass/boundo work, probably longer if you haven't used the stuff before.
